1) Railway recruitment exam also in local state languages: Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday, 24 February 2010
Railway recruitment examinations will henceforth be held in local state languages in addition to Hindi, Urdu and English, railway minister Mamata Banerjee said today.
The examination would also be held on the same date by all Railway Recruitment Boards, she said while presenting the Railway Budget in the Lok Sabha.
"As assured, the recruitment policy of the Railway Recruitment Boards has been reviewed," she said.

In an apparent bid to hijack MNS chief Raj Thackeray's agenda, Maharashtra government on Monday decided to reserve 80 per cent of jobs to locals in state industries.
The Industries, Energy and Labour department took a decision for setting aside 80 percent jobs to the locals", an official statement said.
Anyone who has been residing for over 15 years in the state would be considered as local, the statement said.
4) 65 Tolls Shut Now Maharashtra govt soon to unveil toll policy, 22 More Tolls to be Shut Soon.
The government of Maharashtra is likely to announce a new policy on toll by the end of February 2014.
With the new policy, the state government is planning to close down at least 22 toll collection booths, in addition to about 65 which had already been shut. Further, it also proposes to discontinue toll collection on roads constructed with expenditure below Rs 10 crore.
As per the new policy, the state government will demolish booths on such roads where the toll collection was completed and will develop toilets and other facilities in place of toll roads.
The state government also plans to fit electronic devices on the roads which are built on BOT basis, that will enable an exact count to be kept of vehicles that pass through those roads. With the help of these devices the state government will be able to fix the duration for which toll has to be collected.
